"Towson Md., July 10.- Miss Mary Ellen Johnson who is a student at St. Francis Convent spent the Fourth of July with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Railroad Ave. Rev. W. N. Edwards left the town this week for Norfolk, Va. where he will spend a few days with his mother and family. Rev. S. H. Jones attended the funeral of Miss Leonia Thomas at Elkton, Md., last Wednesday evening. Mr. Brooks, who had been in France for 19 months returned home last week.
The soldiers and sailors were tended a royal reception here on the Fourth of July by the Masons and on Chesapeake Ave. Mrs. Burgess Quickley wishes to thank the many friends that helped her in raising $40 for the Victory Hospital. Miss Ida Diggs of Penn Ave., worshipped at the Second Peoples Church last Sunday evening and night. Mr. Elvin Robert formerly of this town but now of Baltimore was in town last week visiting his friends
Miss Lillian Diggs of Lenox Ave., returned home from Boston Mass., where she has been attending the Hyde High School. Mr. William Boyd of Washington who recently returned from France, with the 808th is here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson of Railroad Avenue. Mrs. Annie Matthews of Darkville, Md., was the guest of Mrs. Mary I. Garret of Hilton Road the Fourth of July.
Towson. Md., July 10. -- On the 4th of July the soldiers had their dinner served at the Masonic Temple. The Mt. Olive Baptist Church had a grand rally last Sunday and raised $602.59. Mr. William Knox and Mr. Burke Brooks both soldiers have returned from France. The baseball team of the Young Men’s Club of Towson defeated the Longgreen Baseball team two games on the fourth. We would like to arrange games with fast uniformed teams Address Matthew Davis Chesapeake Ave. Towson."
