"Several accidents were the toll of the Fourth of July celebrations in Harlem. Peter Rodriguez, 11, 2143 Seventh avenue, sustained abrasions and powder burns on the right leg from the discharge of a pistol at close range by an unidentified boy. The index finger of the right hand of Ernest Taylor, 17, 65 West 99th street, was blown off by a giant fire cracker when it exploded. He was attended at Harlem hospital. Struck in the right leg by a scran from a slug from a rifle or shotgun sent Henry Hunter, 17, 103 West 138th street, to Harlem hospital for treatment."
