Title

"There'll be a parade, music, peanuts, of course"

Description

"The fourth of July, to children. Seems a long way off, but it takes time to make a bang-up celebrating of the great day. Thus, the Irving Park community council has already begun work in cooperation with the fourth of July committee, planning to show the young fry what an old-timers’ Fourth really was like. A parade and peanuts, ice cream, and lemonade will all be a part of it. There will be band music, patriate speeches, games, races, stunts, and other athletic competitions. Adult Choral groups will join the community singing.
Plan No Fireworks. Fireworks will be left to the choice of families at their homes, for the public celebration will be over at 6 o’clock. Of the board of directors, Gene Utz is the chairman and John D. Murphy is the vice chairman, miss Irene Kluth is secretary and Sven Carlson treasurer.
On other boards. Other members of the executive board are Rhode, Ralph, Marlow Madden, Donald Becker, Herbert Kuhn, and Miss Helen Marshall.
Mr. Carlson, who heads the finance committee, has had placed on the counters of every place of business in Irving park district, contribution cans and any person or group making a substantial contribution will receive a certificate. These have already been awarded the Irving park P.T.A. the Ben Butler Rolloff Corps. The Irving park Catholic Woman's Club, and the Crawford greasing establishment."
