"Several accidents were the toll of the Fourth of July celebrations in Harlem. Peter Rodriguez, 11, 2143, seventh avenue, sustained abrasions and powder burns on the right leg from the discharge of a pistol at close range by an unidentified boy. The index finger of the right hand of Ernest Taylor, 17. 61 West 35th street was blown off by a giant firecracker when it exploded. He was attended at Harlem hospital. Struck in the right leg by a scrap iron slug from a rifle or shotgun sent Henry Hunter, 17, 103 West 138th street, to Harlem hospital for treatment."
