Title

FOURTH OF JULY PROCESSION NOTICE, p.3

Description

The Grand Marshal gives early notice that the usual paeadw and display of advertising wagons and carts will not be permitted in the Procession upon the occasion of the approaching National Holiday, July 4th. The Marshal believes that this custom will be “more honored in the breach than in the observance,” a display of small vehicles with wages and commodities having no National significance, tending greatly to retard the formation of the procession, to unnecessarily lengthen it out, and to give satisfaction only to those who by such means advertise their particular business. Organized bodies, with their banners and insignias, and not wagons and carts, are desired in the line of the Procession.
