"The rival Committees for the celebration of the Fourth of July have united, and the differences have been amicably arranged. The Mayor’s Committee, invited the opposition to join with them; they consented, and a joint meeting was held. Gen. Cazneau, "President of the first Committee resigned, and Judge Thompson was elected in his place. Jacob Deith, Grand Marshal also resigned, and was re-elected. The sub-committees were selected from both bodies. We will now have union celebration."
