Social Equality, p. 3

Title

Social Equality, p. 3

Description

"The Fourth of July celebrations in Sacramento and Marysville, completely exploded this bugbear. In the former city colored men were Marshals, colored school children rode in cars with white children, and the colored officers of the Sacramento Zouves were at the officer’s banquet given at the aristocratic Orleans Hotel, and nobody was hurt or offended. In Marysville, similar occurrences were seen, and the next day everybody assumed their original position. Prejudice is great and Social Equality is its Prophet."
