July Fourth to be Widely Celebrated, p. 11

"The Ray Potter Waller’ Civic association, in co-operation with the mayor’s committee for Independence day celebrations in Manhattan, is sponsoring a “pageant of youth” in Harlem on the Fourth.
The festivities will begin at 10 o’clock in the morning with a parade through Lenox and Seventh Aves. to St. Nicholas park, where there will be a patriotic program, games and refreshments.
Among the organization which will be represented at the festivities will be the police, health, park and sanitation departments of New York city, the 269th regiment of the National Guard, [ill.] Brooks post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Col. Charles Young post, the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Eighth district, the Henry St. settlement and others.
Groups of boys and girls will be dressed in fancy paper costumes. Others will ride on decorated floats and neighborhood merchants will exhibit automobile and horse-drawn floats. Robert S. Smith, 321 Edgecomb Ave., is chairman of the committee arranging the celebration."
