Description
"In a Fourth of July address Mayor Shank once said, apropos of George Washington and truthfulness:
“Few of us, alas, can lay claim to that absolute veracity which was Washington’s boast! Thus the shoe pinches us all when the story of Jack Smith comes up.
“Little Jack Smith’s Sunday school teacher, after a lesson on Ananias and Sapphira, said:
“Why is not everybody who tells a lie struck dead?”
“Little Jack answered gravely:
“‘Because the wouldn’t be anybody left.’”- Indianapolis News."
