Title
INDEPENDENCE DAY p.1
Description
“They call this “Independence Day,” And boastfully are wont to say “This nation ought of right to be, And is, from all oppressors free.”
Meanwhile, the tyrants, graft and greed, Sordid and selfish venal need, With callaused [sic] heart and ruthless hand, Are dominant, throughout the land.
Of Independence we may prate, But, spite of claim to such estate, No one believes it, but a fool, While bomb, and torch, and fagot rule.
Unless this nation shall awake, And sceptre of dominion take, Soon shall be “written on the wall ; Its tragic doom; its hopeless fall.”"
