“As a way of warning we are asking our people not to get so free as to be reckless on the Fourth of July. It is well known that we usually have more accidents, deaths and injuries on that date than at normal times. We can have a good time and enjoy ourselves and still be safe and sane. Let us not turn our celebration into periods of mourning for the loss of loved ones. Remember we can add to our traffic fatalities, drowning, snake bites, falls, burns, infections, and poisons from fireworks.”
