"Richmond Ind., July 14 Clarence Harger, formerly of this city, died Thursday, July 6 at Lima,
Ohio. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9 at Anna, Ohio.
Charles Hall Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hall Sr., of Short Sixth street, who is confined to
the Smith Esteb hospital, was home for a few days last week with his family.
Mrs. Fannie Davis, who has been confined to her home on North Fourteenth street due to illness,
is improving. Mrs. Rebecca Rowe of Hunt street is slowly improving.
A surprise “House Warming” in honor of Mrs. Margaret Rhodes, who has moved to her new
apartment, 317 1/2South Twelfth street, was given Friday evening, July 7 by the hostess, Mrs.
Pauline Hall, Mrs. Ellen Hall, and Mrs. Leatha Davis. Many beautiful and useful gifts were
received.
The guests were Mrs. Rhodes, Mrs. Pauline Hall, Mrs. Leatha Davis, Mrs. Octavin Ferguson,
Mrs. Edna Hamlet, Mrs. Helen Mitchell, Mrs. Berlean Potter, Mrs. Mayward Exing, Mrs. Juanita
Scales, Mrs. Mary Flood, Mrs. Geneva Hudges, Mrs. Elizabeth Kelly, Mrs. Ina Bass, Mrs.
Helotes Bragg, Mrs. Cathrine Ramey, Mrs. Ruth Bibbs, and Misses Julia Ramey and Leora
Reed. Also present were Mrs. Vivian Carter, Mrs. Alice Winburn, misses Katie Donnell and
Hazel Williams.
Mrs. Grace Daniels, Mrs. Mary Bennett, Mrs. Elizabeth Doty, Miss Ruth Bennett, Miss Edith
McChesney, Mr. And Mrs. Arnold Jette, Aletha Wells, Roscoe Broadus, Francis Daniel and
Joseph Bennett, all attended a picnic at Elizabeth Park in Detroit, Mich., on the Fourth of July
given by the Kentucky club of Detroit.
Mr. And Mrs. Walker Floyd and Martha and Marguerite Floyd of North West H street and Mrs.
C. C. Coins of Parkersburg, W. Va., motored to Lancaster, NY, to Spend the Fourth of July.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Craig of Indianapolis spent the week end with their parents, Mr. And Mrs.
Martin Craig and sister, Jeraldine of South Eleventh, Mr. And Ms. Martin Craig and daughter,
Jeraldine, spent the Fourth of July in Connersville attending the Craig-Saunders reunion at the
Roberts park.
Miss Beulah Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, was the guest of Mr. And Mrs. Robert Hamlet of South
Twelfth street over the Fourth of July. Mr. And Mrs. McCraft Phelps and family of Indianapolis
spent Sunday, July 2 as guests of Mr. And Mrs. Luther Irvin of South Thirteenth street.
Miss June Mcmechen, who has been visiting her grandmother, Mrs. Rowe on Hunt street, left
Thursday for her home in Hannibal, Mo. William Daily, Tom Lundy and Theodore Perkins spent
the Fourth of July in Muncie, Ind.
Mrs. Herbert Elliot, Mrs. Colman, James Elliot and Junior Jones of Dayton, Ohio, and Mr. And
Mrs. Albert Norris, Mrs. Lizby and Mr. Straiter of Indianapolis were Sunday and Fourth of july
guests of Mr. And Mrs. William Perkins of North West G street.
Mr. And Mrs. John Dillard of South Twelfth street, who had as their guests lst week Mrs. Letta
Bondurant of Rushville, Ind., and Mrs. Lillie Bailey of Washington, C. H. Ohio, invited a few
friends to join them in a pitch-in-supper at Glenn Miller park on Friday evening. And a pitch-in-

supper it was; everything good to eat was on the table and a grand time was had by all present.
Those invited were Mr. And Mrs. Guy Milton, Mr. And Mrs. Sharon Ward, Mr. And Mrs.
George Dixon, Mrs. Barleans Potter, Mrs. Esther Mitchell, Mrs. Rush Patterson, Mrs. Ophelia
Faulkner, Mrs. Pearl Jones, Mr. And Mrs. Russell Garrett, Mrs. Aletha Rowe Webb and miss
Helen Rowe."
