Description

“The Oration. - We commend Mr. Sanderson’s oration to our readers; it is and able production, smooth, clear and well written. Owing to the noise and confusion in the hall on the 1st inst., the delivery was greatly marred, but it will bear a careful perusal.
Pacific Brass Band - These musicians acquitted themselves well on Emancipation Day. We are glad to hear they have been paid in full for their services. This is the first time they have ever received the value of their services. We still owe then a portion of their bill for the Fourth of July parade.
Brannan Guards - This company went through the Upton drill on the 1st of January. We understand it is the first time this new drill has been performed in this city. It was introduced by the Ellsworth Zouavcs at the Inauguration parade in Sacramento. The Guards received high commendation from military men for their efficiency and precision.”
