Description

"NEW YORK – (ANP) – Lushest take on the gate ever seen in Harlem was the Fourth of July evening at Lewisohn stadium, when a half-filled house paid the startling sum of two millions [sic] dollars to see a four-hour lang [sic] entertainment-studded bond rally program.
Admission was by purchase of a war bond, as part of the current Fifth War Loan drive. Earlier rains and a threatening evening cut down the production by half, but the house had already been sold out. With the two millions [sic], the Liberty ship “Bert Williams” will be constructed."
