Title

'Fourth of July Celebrant Lands on Laws Toils'

Description

"Considerate excitement was caused Friday when James E. Posey, 21 years old, 1332 Union St. S. W., started firing a revolver to celebrate the Fourth. The shots caused residents in the vicinity to flee in all direction. While 7-year-old Mary Lee, who lives in the same house with Posey, began screaming, “I’m shot.”
Capt. Ira Sheets of the Fourth precinct led a squad of men to Union St. and surrounded Posey’s home. Posey, however, already had been arrested by Patrolmen Carlton Tally and F. A. Varney, who were attracted by the firing. He was taken to the station house and held on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and carrying concealed weapons. Mary Lee, it was found, had not been injured. She was only frightened."
