Brief

Description

"The young man who was sun struck while sitting in a gentleman’s parlor on the 4th of July is improving.
The question, has women any rights that men are bound to respect, was severely discussed by several young men at a support on the 4th inst.
The question of fence or no fence was settled on Monday last by a large majority in favor of fence. So much for our views as expressed some time back.
We are pleased to learn that a gratification meeting of Hayes and Wheeler will soon be had in this country. Let it be done by all means and at once.
The City Council at its last meeting talked reform. Now gentle men are you in earnest or is it only a dodge; we will watch and see for it is much needed.
The white military of Savannah did not celebrate the 4th. Their patriotism has failed since their reform from the Fort Moultrie Centennial. It is just what we say; there is a little more reconstruction needed.
The Democrats are not very jubilant over the nomination of Tilden and Hendricks. They are aware that Hayes and Wheeler are too much of a match for them. The people want an honest man for the head of this great nation, and Tilden’s Tammany Hall crowd will kill him with honest men.
Would it not be well for us to inform some of our patriotic friends who are so gloriously celebrating the 100th anniversary of American Independence, that the first blood was that of a negro, Crispus Attucks , who fell while nobly defending the city of Boston March 5th 1770? And yet our Democratic friends say this is a white man’s country. "
