"Charles H. Percy, Republican candidate for U.S. Senator, will participate in two Fourth of July celebrations on Monday, one in Chicago and the other in Carmi, Ill., where he will speak following an appearance by his November opponent. Percy’s schedule for the holiday weekend also includes two appearances in connection with the World Lithuanian Youth Congress in the Grand Ballroom of the Conrad Hilton Hotel. Planned as part of Carmi’s Sesquicentennial, the old-fashioned patriotic holiday will include a parade of beauty queens, a display of fireworks described as stereophonic and a program of political speeches that includes Sen. Paul Douglas."
